Recommended abortion providers
This is our list of recommended abortion providers, based on the suggestions of our members. This list is a resource for women who are seeking abortion services and want to know where to start looking, or who want to hear about other women's first-hand experiences.

The list currently refers to 33 states (including Washington DC), Australia, and the UK. If you have had a positive experience with an abortion provider, especially in a location not already represented on our list, we would love to hear from you. Your advice could help a woman in this community in the future.

You may comment anonymously if you prefer. You do not have to describe your experience if you do not want to, although you are welcome to provide a link to your own story, if you have shared it here. You may recommend clinics where you have worked or volunteered. Although we don't currently have a system for listing un-recommended abortion providers (those with which you've had a negative experience), you are welcome to share those as well, for possible future use.

Thank you for all that you do.

American Women's Medical Center

They are very affordable, discreet and efficient. One word of caution, they didn't offer counseling while I was there. But they do put you to sleep for the abortion if you want/need it, which is why I chose them.

I know I'm a little late, but I wanted to recommend the clinic I went to this weekend.

Downtown Women's Center - Portland, Oregon
511 SW 10th Ave #905
Portland, Oregon - 503-224-3435
http://www.downtownwomenscenter.com/

I don't know if it's because I went in there with a huge plethora of knowledge about the procedure I was about to endure, or if they were just a really great clinic.

I especially appreciated that there were *NO* protestors when I got there at 8:00am, and none when I left at 10:30.. I'm not sure if it was just a special day, or if they're too busy bothering the other clinics in town :)

But I was treated with respect, and was assured the entire time that what I was doing was not bad, and that all of the women there had endured it (or would've if it had been an option in their "day"), and knew what I was going through. Everyone was very gentle with me as well, in fact when I had to have the vaginal ultrasound, I barely felt a thing!

I am glad that there is such a pleasant clinic here in my own home town, and I know that if I should ever be put in this situation again, that I can go there with no issues :)

Wow, puckish, this is awesome. Thanks for all your work on this.

BTW - I got photos of abortion implements from Midwest Health Center for Women the week before last. I'm going to work on getting them up on a site after Thanksgiving. I'm considering going further and putting together a very detailed abortion information site. If I do, we can link in this list!

They were incredibly nice from the minute I was outside of the clinic. They had these supporters/guides who walked you to the door and shed the protestors off of your back. Everyone was very nice, the doctors and nurses were competent and understanding, and prices for bcp, etc. were decent.

I definitely recommend the Women's Health Specialists that can be found all over Northern California. They have a website http://www.womenshealthspecialists.org They are all over Redding, Chico, Sacramento, San Jose.... it's a great group of women. :)

I recommend
Heritage Clinic
320 East Fulton, Grand Rapids, MI, 49504
(616) 458-3694
http://www.hertiageclinic.org

(very nice and friendly staff, a few pro-life people altho they are not pushy and just give you some papers, also they will try and work with your insurance company to help cut down the costs).

I just wanted to thank you for adding that clinic, but you have the wrong website address. Its .org not .com (just thought I should mention that).

For Albuquerque, NM:

I highly recommend Dr. Curtis Boyd's office. Great staff and help.

I've had not so pleasant experiences with Dr. Bruce Ferguson. You can read about my experiences here

the feminist health center in concord new hampshire. I went there and had a positive abortion experience. they were wonderful. they have a sister clinic in greenland which are the only two places besides PP and the hospital to have an abortion in new hampshire. but FYI- the greenland clinic dosent allow anyone in with you for your procedure, thats why I went to the concord one because they allow one person in with you. but I know the people at greenland and there amazing. so it would really just be up to the girl if she wanted someone there with her or not.

http://www.feministhealth.org/home/ heres the link i used to find info about my procedure.

oh i know! i wasn't saying it as something bad with the greenland clinic. they are wonderful people there. i guess they had an incident a few years back where a bf brought his girl to have an abortion. and flipped out in the middle of it so they made that only the women undergoing the procedure could go there. although they do have a clinic worker there with the woman holding her hand and talking her through it. it was just my personal choice that I wanted someone with me because I was really scared. I have been helped by both places and they are absolutely wonderful.

ya definitely. the ones I clicked on seemed pro-choice. but you can never be to careful with all the pregnancy crisis centers popping up everywhere. I'm glad to be of a help and if theres anything else i can do please let me know. I also am here to help any woman who just needs to talk about her experience. I have never been able to talk about mine because unfortunately I was raised by militant pro-life parents. so i understand how hard it is to want to talk about something but have no where to turn. so I'm here for everyone!
soulsearcher139 on October 26th, 2006 08:39 pm (UTC)
oh and as a side note. I worked there for a while and I asked the nurses if they ever had a problem with protesters.. and where the clinic is located its kinda hard to see, its kinda back from the road and only says feminist health center on the front. so they never have had an issue with protesters.
